Home & Garden

I love to do home improvement projects and grew up with a carpenter father, so I feel I have more skill than I may actually have. But give me an idea, a saw, some wood and paint, and I’m off. Here is where I share all of the projects I’ve done on my home over the years with how-to’s for many of them. My father is no longer alive, but I like to think that the projects I share in this section either make him proud, or give him a good laugh.

But(ton), I LOVE Daisies!

What’s your favorite flower?  Mine is hands down the basic white Shasta Daisy!  I do love variations (such as her sister Gerbera), but my true love is the delicate white petal and the bright cheery yellow center.  So, when I was trying to think of what to do with all of my wonderful buttons, I thought, why not make a daisy for my kitchen [...]

I’m TOTALLY making this!

This may be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! I think I’ll use the phrase correctly, unlike Elissa from Big Brother 15…I’m OBSESSED!  I saw this little gem when a friend pointed out the Lowe’s Build and Grow program where your child can go in to a workshop and build their own Toy Story car, for FREE!  But anyway, [...]

A Game of Catch-Up!

Hello! I’mmmm baaack! I haven’t posted very much lately as things have just been kinda crazy in life the last few months. That certainly doesn’t mean I wasn’t busy making things to blog about though! I’m going to play a game of catch-up over the next few days and post everything I’ve been up to, crafty wise [...]

It’s that time of year…I <3 Gardening!

Well I’ve always had a green thumb for my indoor plants, but since I’ve only owned for 3 years now, I don’t have a ton of experience with outdoors or vegetable gardens. Two years ago I ripped out a ton of bushes and planted flowers, ornamental grasses, hastas and more. I’m happy with the layout, however, my tulips failed to [...]

Operation Cut Door in Half

…and let the light in! We have a tri-level house and on the bottom floor is our laundry room and half guest bathroom.  You have to go through the bathroom to get to the laundry room and the only window is in the laundry room, so I wanted to be able to keep that door open to let sunlight in to the bath and to our downstairs living room.  [...]

Bathroom Facelift

So a few weeks ago I decided I was going to use the rest of the gray paint from the playroom project in September to paint our guest bathroom.  The cabinet was already black, so gray seemed like a great color choice, and I had just enough!  Some of the mini-projects to the facelift were: Paint Countertop w/Rustoleum Countertop coating (see image [...]

Living Room Makeover

Lots of PHOTOS BELOW! If you follow this blog at all, you know that almost three years ago we bought a new (old) house. It was built in 1963 and hadn’t been updated much. Since we’ve moved in, I’ve been slowly updating the house. The first project was the living room. As you can see there were old shelves on the fireplace, and the [...]

Kitchen Before & After

Here is our kitchen when we moved in, and here is our kitchen now…It was yellow for a short time as well, but I couldn’t take it anymore after two years so it recently turned into brown There is a sneak peak below of what color yellow it was. Take a look and you’ll understand why after two years I was going to go crazy, or change [...]

Hello Indianapolis!! I’m So Glad to Be Here Tonight!!

So with news of Hayden due to arrive in 9 months, it was time to start on Jackson’s new, big boy room.  At 18 months he was moving out of his crib and into his new room to make way for his little brother. 18 months is a tough age to decide what to make his room when going for a whole theme.  Looking back now that he’s 28 months, I think I [...]

Welcome to the Jungle Baby

Baby:  Jungle Nursery This room was created 2.5 years ago before my first son, Jackson, was born.  We bought our first house in May of 2010 and Jackson was born in August.  It was the first room we painted in our all white home.  I wanted to have it done in time for the baby of course.  We didn’t find out the gender so we wanted a neutral [...]
