I recently created some hand painted letters in a superhero theme. It was a really fun project, and I’m currently working on two new ones of Flash and Green Lantern. I’ll add photos of those as well once complete.
These are meant to hang on a wall, but they could rest on a shelf. I used 9″ letters that were 1/2 inch thick, but of course you could use any size letter. These are MDF and have a hole drilled in the back for hanging. I got them at Michaels Craft Store, but you can find wood letters at most any craft store, or online.
I wish I could list these in my Etsy shop, as they are so super cute, but licensing laws prohibit that, so you’ll have to make your own. If you have any questions, let me know and I’ll see if I can help give you tips.
1. Buy needed letters
2. Buy Paint in needed colors
3. Sketch out design for chosen superhero
4. Make stencils if need be (Just print on paper, cut out with xacto knife and then trace with pencil onto letter)
5. Paint each section
6. Seal with Mod Podge
